Yim Tin Tsai

Yim Tin Tsai (鹽田仔) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Yim_Tin_Tsai_(Sai_Kung)#Transportation
is a small island in Sai Kung, next to Kau Sai Chau. But it is now
connected to Kau Sai Chau by a breakwater. The sea between Yim Tin Tsai
and Kau Sai Chau becomes a typhoon shelter.

To
get to Yim Tin Tsai, you may take a Kaito (private ferry) from Sai Kung
Pier, which is next to Sai Kung Bus Terminus. One way journey takes
about 15 minutes. It is suggested to buy the return ticket as well,
instead of one way ticket only. In Yim Tin Tsai, apart from leisure walk
on the island, taking photos, idling and waiting for something to
happen, you may also visit St. Joseph Chapel, a village
school, abandoned salt-making field, and mangrove. For city dwellers, it
should be a very nice and memorable experience to visit Yim Tin Tsai.

We take this boat from Sai Kung Pier to Yim Tin Tsai. www.yimtintsai.com

It
can accommodate about thirty persons at the same time. It takes about
15 minutes for the whole journey from Sai Kung to Yim Tin Tsai.

Next to the pier, there are stores selling drinks, ice-cream, snacks, cakes, and souvenirs.

This is the cafe for rest and eating.

Village school

St. Joseph Chapel

It has been renovated in 2004.

The bell is still functioning.

With natural daylight, other professionals can take much better photo.

This
is the direction to Salt Pan (Abandoned Salt-making Farm). I guess the
name of this small island - Yim Tin Tsai was also named after this salt
pan.

Area of salt pan is not very large. We are pleased to have the chance to see the remnant of salt pan.

Be careful to pass by.

This is the breakwater to connect Kau Sai Chau, a larger island nearby.

Kau Sai Chau is now mainly a golf course and accessible by ferry.

Gideon Youth training school is still operating. http://www.gideon.org.hk/main.htm

A strange tree with leaves withered on the edge (dark brown portion).

For
return tickets, it is $35 per head (in 2012). It is in service on
Saturdays, Sundays and public holiday. "To" schedule: 10:00 to 15:40;
"Return" schedule: 12:20 to 18:00. This is the information on the lower
portion of the banner. But I query "To" service is also available after
16:00. This is a logical question.
