Nathan Road (彌敦道) is the main road in Kowloon, Hong Kong that goes in a north-south direction from Tsim Sha Tsui to Prince Edward. It was the very first road built in Kowloon in 1861. Its name was changed to Nathan Road in 1909, after Sir Matthew Nathan, the 13th Governor who served between 1904 and 1907. It is now still a famous and busy road in Kowloon Peninsula.
The most impressive sections should be those in Mongkok and Jordan,
with numerous neonlights and neon signs of different colours. Many
shops, restaurants, banks and shopping malls are located on both sides
of Nathan Road. It is particularly beautiful and spectacular at night,
though it is a light pollution and a waste of light energy to a certain
extent. Herebelow are photos of Nathan Road in Mongkok and Jordan at
night, there is a fear that some buildings and neonlight signs will be
demolised and destroyed suddenly. It is therefore needed to make a small
record of this night prosperity.
