Nga Tsin Wai Village (衙前圍村) is the last traditional Chinese walled village in urban area of Hong Kong. It is located in San Po Kong
in Kowloon. The village has about 400 years history, but the Tin Hau
Temple has more than 600 years history. The village is in the form of a
rectangle, with an area of about 0.4 hectare. Originally, there were
about 100 village houses, separated by 3 narrow alleys.

Since
the government is going to develop this piece of land. Most inhabitants
have moved and most houses have been demolished or are vacant now. It
is expected that the village will be developed to be high-rise building
cluster, while the main entrance construction and Tin Hau Temple will be
kept.

This will be the expected picture after reconstruction.
If
it is true, it is still good to the public and Hong Kong that a village
with long history will / can be preserved. There will be one more place
for the younger generation to know how the walled village of the past
looks like.
