Kwan
Tai Temple (關帝廟) in Sham Shui Po is the only Kwan Tai Temple in Kowloon
and the largest one in Hong Kong. The original one was built in 1891.
After about 119 years, the old temple became shabby and had to re-build
to attract more followers and visitors.

Since
this Kwan Tai Temple is not conveniently located and the former door
area is not large enough, after renovation, the door area has been
enlarged and more grand.

In 2010, about HK$6M was spent to renovate the Sham Shui Po Kwan Tai Temple.
It occupies an area of 7,000 sq ft.

The main hall.
The bright red colour is very sharp and attractive.

Totally there are 14 Kwan Tai Temples in Hong Kong.

The main chamber is quite roomy.

There
are two Kwan Tai Festivals each year which fall on the 13th day of the
fifth lunar month and 24th day of the sixth lunar month.

Not the whole temple has been renovated, some portions are retained.
