Hiking from Chuen Lung Village to Tsuen Wan

To
visit Chuen Lung (川龍), the only purpose for most persons is to dine in
one of the two village Chinese restaurants. The experience would be a
bit different in these village Chinese restaurants. To be tourists or
Honkies, you should travel at least once to Chuen Lung. Let's start the
journey.

In about fifteen minutes, we arrive at Chuen Lung Village.

At Chuen
Lung Street in Tsuen Wan, there is direct public transport by green
minibus route 80. It is only $5 per adult. It is a coincidence that a
street in Tsuen Wan and a village in
Tai Mo Shan are both called Chuen Lung.

Near the
minibus terminus, we can see the other Chinese restaurant called 'Choi
Lung Tea House'. It is now early in the morning, the sky is still misty.

After the meal in Duen
Kee Chinese Restaurant, it is the start of the hiking of about one hour.
Bear in mind, this is a very easy route as it is downward sloping.

Vegetables grown in Tai Mo Shan / Chuen Lung and Chinese herbal tea are on sale.

A simple map of the downward sloping route from Chuen Lung Village to Discovery Park, Tsuen Wan.

This view is breath-taking.

Fresh Watercress (西洋菜) is for sale.

Watercress is a
fast-growing aquatic or semi-aquatic leaf vegetable. It contains
significant amount of iron, calcium, folic acid, Vitamin A and C.
Besides digestive aid, watercress also acts as a source of antioxidants,
and is widely believed to help defend lung cancer.

Watercress is growing in this natural and healthy environment, with running water.

Each piece of watercress is strong, turgid and vividly green.

The whole watercress field should have two times the area in this photo.

Lovely mushrooms along the trail.

Before long, we can see the buildings in Tsuen Wan. The tallest building is Nina Towerof 80 storeys.

This catchwater is in the middle of the route.

This is connected to Route Twisk (荃錦公路).

More than 50% of the route is like this. If you have something wrong in your knees, this route may not be suitable to you.

The pink building cluster is Discovery Park. The tallest one behind and in gray colour is Nina Tower. We can also see at the left side ICCand IFC of Kowloon Peninsula and Hong Kong Island respectively, as shown in the map below.

Herebelow are not related to the hiking in Chuen Lung.

In the midst of searching, it is interesting to find of "A map of the leased New Territories and New Kowloonduring the 1898 Convention for the Extension of Hong Kong Territory".
It is needed to compare to the map of Hong Kong in 2011. These two maps
are for the purpose of recording and have no direct relation with this
piece of dining record.

There is
large scale reclamation in Kowloon Peninsula, North Hong Kong Island,
Shatin, Kwai Chung, Tuen Mun, Tseung Kwan O and Chap Lap Kok. These are
also the locations where most Hong Kong citizens reside.
