To Kwa Wan (
土瓜灣) is
an old district at the eastern shore of Kowloon Peninsula in Hong Kong.
There are no large small shopping malls in the district. Most buildings
are of more than fifty years history and less than twenty storeys or
less. At the moment (in 2012), To Kwa Wan is still not accessible by
MTR, it is therefore not the target for large scale re-development by
property devleopers.

It is common to have high-rise building behind the old buildings.

These buildings should not equipped with elevators.

This means the only solution is by walk.

Some are of three storeys only.

In the past, at the time of construction, they should be new icons of the district.

At
both sides of To Kwa Wan Road, buildings are of the same height and
outlook. They should have been renovated regularly, they give me an
impressive they are still very secure.

It is easy to see the sky and there is no sky-scrapper.

These
should be the old walled buildings. It is not a species of 20th
century. Please do not always blame the current property developers
only.

Basically there are no gaps in between.

This building is about 50 years old.

But it still looks good in outlook. It does not give me a shabby impression.

To Kwa Wan Road

Selling price is about HK$4,000 (USD513) per square feet in September 2012.

I guess management of this building is quite good.

This was taken in early 2012. It is about HK$4,564 (USD585) per square feet.

The
outlook and skyline of To Kwa Wan are going to have abrupt change in
the nearest future. It is nice and memorable to stroll around and take
photos of the old buildings in To Kwa Wan. The experience is more or
less similar to visit a city in another country. It is interesting.
