Yue Kwong Chuen (漁光村) is a public housing estate developed by Hong Kong Housing Society (HKHS). Totally there are five blocks, built in 1962 to 1965 respectively. The whole estate is bounced by Yue Kwong Road and Aberdeen Reservoir Road, where Aberdeen Reservoir Road is a very steep road.

It is out of our expectation that a building of design and construction about 50 years before would be in such a way (a high quality). We do appreciate very much.

Yue Kwong Chuen is situated at the highest point in Aberdeen. This means the dwellers should have very spectacular view of Aberdeen Typhoon Shelter and Apleichau in the past.

The five buildings are particularly kept in good condition. Please note that they have nearly 50 years history. Yue Kwong Chuen is the second oldest existing estate developed by HKHS and the oldest one in Southern District.

Comparatively, housing estates managed and maintained by HKHS are much better in quality and outlook. Maybe, The Hong Kong Housing Authority has too many estates to develop and take care of, resulting that some buildings are really very poor in all aspects.

Next time, when you hike around Aberdeen Reservoirs, you may take this opportunity to visit Yue Kwong Chuen and admire the constructions and design of 50 years ago.
