Occupy Central 佔領中環 2012

The
Occupy movement is an international protest movement against social and economic inequality, its primary goal being to make the economic structure and power relations in society more fair. Different local groups have different foci, but among the prime concerns is the claim that large corporations and the global financial system control the world in a way that disproportionately benefits a minority, undermines democracy and is unstable.

The whole incident of 9-month Hong Kong Version "Occupy Central 佔領中環" of "Occupy Wall Street" in the U.S. ended on 11 September 2012.

It
is really difficult to understand their rationale of occupying a
portion of open area on the ground floor of HSBC Hong Kong Headquarter
in Central for a period of 9 months, after expressing their standpoints
of "Social and economic inequality, greed, corruption and the undue influence of corporations on government—particularly from the financial services sector".

Photos are taken on a Sunday (about two weeks before the clearance on 11 September 2012), where there are many domestic helpers.

Tents are erected on the open area underneath HSBC Headquarters in Central, Hong Kong.

Posters are connected and hung to guard the boundary.

Even
though you protest against "Financial hegemony" and would like to
support the counterpart in the U.S., after the declaration of court
order in Hong Kong and the protestants have to retreat on 27 August
2012, it is a must to retreat. Illegally occupying this piece of land
must result in the clearance by bailiff.

There is nothing more to express, it is only to record this incident by photos in 2012.
